Wonderful large quartersawn oak box fitted with a Gorham sterling silver and ivory vanity or grooming set. Box is dated 1902 on the back panel, and beautifully decorated with hand carved winged lions, griffin and dolphins. There is a single-letter monogram with the initial “B” carved within a keystone on the front panel. This unique Gorham pattern is of blossoming “spring snow” crab apple flowers. Signed on nail buffer with Gorham “Lion, Anchor & G” mark and “Sterling, 3 & Star (1888 date mark)”. Overall condition is excellent. Lid has a very slight warp which can be seen in the photos below.
