Paul Arnold hand hammered copper pitcher with riveted brass handle and hand hammered brass lid, hinged and topped with acorn finial. Circa 1920’s. This mixed-metal piece is exceptionally well made with very fine hammering and design. Interior is zinc lined. Born April 18th, 1890 in Damsheim, Germany, Paul Arnold was a highly skilled coppersmith and worked in the Bad Cannstatt district of Stuttgart in Baden-Württemberg. Signed with impressed “Paul Arnold Kupferschmidt Bad Cannstatt” shop mark under base, this piece dates from about 1920 to 1930. Body of pitcher decorated with “Bad Cannstatt” in hand engraved shaded block. This is a very attractive form with it’s tapered body and flaring base.
